If you’ve been following along with my journey, you know that running Fixation Fibre & Function is equal parts creativity, learning, and a little bit of chaos (the good kind 😉).
Right now, I’m in a quieter season between markets — which means I’m focusing on something I’ve been excited (and a little nervous!) to tackle: officially growing my online presence and opening my Etsy shop.
Why Etsy?
Markets are one of my favorite ways to connect with people in real life. There’s nothing better than seeing someone pick up a bag, feel the texture, or fall in love with a colourway of yarn right in front of me.
But markets are temporary — and I want my creations to be available all the time.
Opening an Etsy shop gives me:
-
A way for new customers to discover my work
-
A space for one-of-a-kind handmade bags and hand-dyed yarn to live beyond market days
-
Another platform that helps people find my brand while I continue building my main website
Think of Etsy as another doorway into my creative world.
Working Behind the Scenes
Between sewing sessions, dye days, and mom life, I’ve been using this “between market” window to improve my website and create a smoother shopping experience.
That includes:
-
Photographing products (always harder than it looks!)
-
Writing clear and helpful listings
-
Organizing collections so it’s easy to browse yarn, bags, and accessories
-
Making sure every item reflects what I love most — creativity with real-life functionality
My goal is simple: when you visit my shop, it should feel welcoming, inspiring, and easy to explore.
Handmade Means One-of-a-Kind
One thing that won’t change — whether you shop online or see me at a market — is that my bags and many of my yarns are truly one-of-a-kind.
I work with unique fabrics, upcycled materials, and hand-dyed techniques that make every piece slightly different. That means when you choose something, it’s uniquely yours.
And honestly, that’s my favorite part.
Next Stop: Easter Egg-stravaganza Market
While I’m building online, I’m also getting ready for my next in-person event:
4th Annual Easter Egg-stravaganza (Taylor Markets)
📅 Saturday, April 4, 2026
⏰ 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
📍 Bowness Community Association (7904 43 Ave NW, Calgary)
This market is packed with fun for the whole family, including:
-
Over 50 local vendors
-
Food trucks
-
Face painting
-
A kids’ craft corner
-
Miniature horses
-
Free photos with the Easter Bunny
If you’re local, I would absolutely love to see you there. Markets are where you can touch fabrics, see colors in person, and chat with me about projects, yarn, or whatever creative rabbit hole we end up down.
Thank You for Being Part of This Journey
Every step — from dyeing yarn to sewing bags to learning new platforms like Etsy — is made possible by your support.
Whether you shop, follow along, or simply cheer me on, you’re part of the story.
And I’m just getting started.
